Monday July 7: Cultural visit

The archaeological campaigns carried out in the enclosure of the old market of El Born have made it possible to study in detail a fragment of the city’s urban fabric and to uncover signs of how people lived there early in the 18th century. So, the current “Barcelona 1700” exhibition, placed in El Born Cultural Center, aims to transport visitors into the society of the city at that time.

19:00 – 22:00 : In parallel to the guided tour, a catering dinner will be served at BORN main hall.

22:00 : End of the event: Exhibition of human tours by “Castelles de Barcelona“. The “Castellers de Barcelona” were founded in 1969 by a group of enthusiasts of this Catalan tradition. With their effort and devotion they managed to turn such a group into what it is now: A reference within the Catalan popular culture. Wearing their red shirt, they are always ready to carry out constructions which combine strength, balance, courage and wisdom.

Tuesday July 8: Concert

19:30 – 21:00 : Very special event to commemorate ICTON 25th anniversary: Jazz concert of the prestigious piano player Ignasi Terraza and his UNUSUAL TRIO (a trio to enjoy a high-flying jazz session. Have no doubt!). The Barcelona pianist, one of the most internationally recognised European jazzmen, combines his extraordinary technique, exquisite sensitivity and the swing he treasures, with another jazz major: Adrian Cunningham, saxophonist born in Australia, who currently lives in New York. The third vertex is the drummer Esteve Pi, a regular in the Ignasi Terraza groups. And no, we have not forgotten to announce the double bass player. It is precisely the absence of this instrument what Ignasi Terraza intends to explore with Andrian Cunningham and Esteve Pi.
